A detailed understanding of the current environment is required to achieve success.
Knowing what applications, infrastructure components, and processes will change enables us to create transition plans and validate projected costs specified in the business justification.
We collect information and document the existing environment to develop a baseline configuration necessary to build a solid migration strategy.
The application analyses are reviewed to define a future state design.
Our Architects create a systems integration document that details server, network and facilities designs to support the application requirements and interdepencies.
The system integration documents are reviewed with the application owners to ensure all requirements are met. A Gap Analysis is performed and the results implemented.
Our PM orchestrate the planned changes based on the detailed project plan.
Subsequently, our team of technical consultants and arcitects implement the mechanics of the technology solution where the co-existence of multiple environments occur.
This phase is typically the most resource-intensive and requires more management oversight to handle issues, risks, change management and work through lessons learnt from the pilot.
Post testing a production readiness review takes place and a “go/no go” decision is made.
All applications are brought up to the latest revisions and data refreshed to production level. The production cutover to the new environment is undertaken in a well-defined change window.
Rollback strategy is produced and put in place to minimise any possible service disruption. User acceptance testing and migration reviews occur which lead to a rince and repeat approach.
A critical component that is often overlooked is Service Management.
Major change for applications and infrastructure warrants an in-depth look at the way it will be supported by business as usual teams during and post project closure.
In order to understand what needs to change in the existing operating model, a review is conducted on the major Infomation Technology Service Management areas.
